Stage 1 or Stage 2?
Differences, hardware and requirements for a suitable calibration.
The hardware determines the approach
Stage 1 usually describes software optimisation based on standard hardware. Stage 2 takes specific hardware modifications into account. These terms are not uniformly standardised performance levels: the actual components and a matching calibration are what matter.
What you should know before tuning
Preparation includes engine condition, maintenance, fuel quality and software version. If the intake, exhaust, cooling or forced induction have been modified, we need the exact component details. General power figures without this information are not a reliable basis.
Engine and transmission as a whole
In addition to engine management, transmission capacity and control may be relevant. Torque demands, protection functions and the intended driving profile should be considered together. A suitable calibration therefore starts with a complete description of the vehicle.
